He published the first almanac in 1733. Families bought them so that they could see how to when to water a plant, to see holidays, see weather forecasts, and to see when the sun comes up and down and when the moon rises and goes down. He called it Poor Richard’s Almanac. He sold about ten thousand copies. He kept it up for twenty-five years. That was one of Ben Franklin’s ideas!
You probably know that Ben Franklin discovered that lightening and electricity are the same. He got a kite and put a wire at the tip and he felt an electrical shock came through a key that he tied the kite around his hand. He also built a contraption to make lightening come to the ground so that humans back then could use that electricity. That is another idea of Ben Franklin.
If you didn’t know, Ben Franklin was a very good negotiator. He went to England to argue, and then he went to France to conveince them in to helpig the United States and while he was in France his wife Debbie had died the year before he came back. When Ben came back to America,we were already at war with England. That was the last idea that I know of, but I know that Benjamin Franklin had a lot more!
