 The Useful Birdhouse Years later, on his sixth birthday, he was too poor to have a birthday party with friends, so he just spent the whole day with his parents. His dad asked,” Obama, what do you want for your birthday?” Obama thought and thought, but he couldn’t think of anything that he wished for because he thought he already had everything he had ever wished for. So, Obama and his parents spent the whole day making muffins with one eighth of their own money. When they finished baking them, they placed them on a plate, brought them outside in front of their apartment, them sold every last one. They ended up getting 7x how much money they spent to make them! Obama was so happy and thought he had everything in the world. The day after his “birthday party”, he finally thought of something better than anything. A bird house. He quickly ran to his parents when this idea floated into his head. “ Can we make a bird house? Can we make a bird house? Can we make a bird house?” Obama asked. Before they could answer, Obama interrupted and said,” I’ll work at the car shop with you, Dad! I’ll even work the full day, just like you!”( I know that it sounds like Obama is spoiled, but he really isn’t. He is just too young to know.) “I guess he really wants a bird house... After all, it was his birthday yesterday...” His mom and dad thought. Finally, his dad said, “ Fine.... You’ll have to work extra, extra hard, just like me then!” Obama pretended to think, then quickly said, “Of course I will! Please daddy!!!!” In the end, they did say yes and started to build the small, tiny bird house. They worked hard on the bird house and Obama’s dad’s job. When they were finished, it looked like it was made from a professional bird house builder celebrity. That day, Obama learned a very important lesson. clip1414chnethnI must say, this article as also made me learn a lesson too! (That I should sell muffins so I can get 7x the amount of money I spent making the muffins!) Not! But i truly have learned a lesson that shall help my life a lot.
