Living in Space
Here are some things about Living in Space, what the food is like, their clothing, and their sleeping and living quarters.
In space the quarters are cramped you do not have a lot of room to move around. You have to exercise a lot, because in space there is no gravity so you loose bone density. There are no ups or downs, and you float since there is no gravity to hold you down like on earth. The longest time someone has lived in space is for six months.
The food in space used to be horrible, but now they have changed it. You used to have to eat the food out of a tube. Every thing was in smoothie form. They did this because they could not risk letting food getting into the electrical systems, and into an astronauts eyes or nose. No they can eat food in it's natural form, but they have to be careful. Here are some foods they eat, for breakfast they eat and drink, Granola, a breakfast roll, pears, a vanilla breakfast drink, coffee, and earl Grey tea. For lunch here are some choices, Chicken strips in salsa, Mac and cheese, Rice and butter, Macadamia nuts, and apple cider. Here are some things they can eat for dinner, Shrimp cocktail, Beef and steak, Mac and cheese, fruit cocktail, strawberry drink, and tea with lemon.
Like on earth, astronauts have to sleep, maybe just a little differently. They have to be strapped in to their bunk since there is no gravity. They either sleep in bunks or a chair. It is very cramped, and probably not that comfortable.
Once there clothing is worn as much as it can be worn, the put the clothing in disposal, and when the shuttle re-enters the earth's atmosphere the dirty clothing and other garbage burns up with the progress. In space they wear space suits, but when they are in the space station they wear normal tee shirts and shorts. On earth the total weight of just the space suit is 400 pounds, but in space it does not weigh anything, it is weightless. In space they have oxygen tanks, since there is no oxygen above our earth's atmosphere.
In space the hygiene is the same, they bathe everyday. When they take a shower, they have to vacuum up the water so it does not get in the rooms and so it does not mess up the electrical systems, like the food. They are also able to shave, brush their teeth, and use the bathroom.
These are just some things that what living in space is like.
