My First Blog

Science 6th Grade Science is very interesting. I like that we get to do much more than read from a textbook. I am really interested in the monarch butterfly chrysalis. I think its really cool that the chrysalis itself is transparent, and that it gets its green color from the actual butterfly. Also, the garden is another really cool thing we get to study. Learning the parts of a flower was fun, because I thought that the only parts of a flower were the petals, stem, and the seed and roots. I learned lots from that. I didn't like Science that much last year, mainly because it was boring the way we read from the books, but I like Science MUCH better this year. Language Arts In Language Arts Class we have done a lot. On the 1st day we jumped right into our 1st project, the hands. I really liked how before anything else, Ms.O’Connel got to know us a little before we started off the year. I really liked the way all the hands turned out, but, i think the best one is mine. :) I also LOVE the way we have our book lists, and the reading calendar. This way I can look back at all the books I’ve read and when i started and finished them, which, I’ve never really been able to do before. Math I like Math.I really like how we get to use the smart boards to do problems sometimes, because they are really cool. Our 1st BIG THING was the M&Ms. The beginning of that was my favorite part, the part when we got to eat them. I also liked when we went out to dig for potatoes, and then learned the potato song. I liked weighing them as well. Social Studies I like Social Studies a lot. I feel really comfortable in that room because I’m there more than everybody else. I really like how instead of having to run around having to remember to grab everything, all you have to do is grab your green binder and your all set! I also think it is really cool that we have our table of contents at the beginning of each divider. That is really cool, I think. Art Art is really fun. I really like Mrs. Vitali and I really like all the projects we get to do. The one we are working on now is really cool and I’m looking forward to seeing the finished product. I also like that we get assigned to draw things, and it doesn't matter how good or bad it is. Overall, Art is pretty fun! Music/Chorus I think Music and Chorus is fun. I’m not very much of a singer, but I try my best. I like chorus because it’s just us girls, and we get to sing really good songs. Music is also fun. I like playing the drums and keyboards. Also, Mrs. Wirth is really fun, and she has a really good sense of humor, but knows how to get stuff done. Life Skills Life Skills is amazing. I really liked the first couple of weeks when we got to make salsa and bruschetta , using nice fruit and veggies from the garden. I’m not big on trying new things, but I know that I definitely enjoy making it! Now that we are starting to sew, I’m really excited! We get to make these adorable pumpkins and I can’t wait to finish them! Tech Ed Tech Ed is pretty fun. I hate the dust everywhere, but other than that, it is really fun. I was really happy when we decided we were going to make Ping Pong Paddles 1st. As a lot of people already know, I really LOVE ducks of any kind, so you can probably guess what I made my paddle of. You guessed it, a duck. I can’t wait to finish and paint them! Gym Gym is OK. I really don’t like that we only have 5 minutes to change, or we are late/get points taken off. But the activities are kind of fun. My favorite part was the basketball unit, because basketball is my favorite sport. I also think it is neat that we have a bunch of people helping out in our classes, like Ms. Kurstiar. Spanish Spanish is so-so. I get the Spanish itself, but the way she explains it sometimes is a little confusing, like when she writes notes that are in Spanish, and we keep having to ask the she gets mad. It is kind of like a pet peeve of mine, but again. Spanish is so-so for me.
