So, What Stood Out?
The digital Nations Video, Virtual Worlds caught my attention out of the five PBS video's we viewed in class. It blew my mind that companies and businesses were using an internet virtual world to have meetings and work there everyday lives. In the Video they had an example of a company where everyone used a program called Second Life. They showed the offices of this company in the video, and they were completely empty. All the Employees were at home working on there computers in second life. They used Second life to make avatars and to have all there meetings. Although this is a great way to cut down on the cost of travel, i do think it would eventually start to affect the social skills of today’s citizens.
