Learning!!

This week we have started our math unit (sorting and patterning) and we are working on finding things that are the same in some way,  We also started learning some letters using Jolly Phonics,  Today we started with the letter 's'.  We read a story about a boy walking his dog and running into a snake that says "sssssssss".  We also sang a song about snakes and the sound they make.  Our next letter will be 'a'.  For those of you who are unfamiliar with Jolly Phonics it is a program that works very well for teaching students the letters and the sounds the letters make.  Each sound has an action to go with it to help the students remember.  They also have stories and songs for each letter.

Tomorrow is the school's opening mass at our school parish.  If it is nice out we will be walking, if not we'll be taking the bus.  Any parents that would like to come to the mass are welcome.  I could use a little help before, during and after mass.  I am one of the choir leaders so it would be helpful to have some extra hands.  Thanks, hope to see some of you there!

We weren't familiar with Jolly Phonics, so we did a web search and this site explains it. Thought if might be helpful to other parents http://www.jollylearning.co.uk/
