Oregon Trail Blog

It’s easy to make a decision to travel west on the Oregon Trail. Here are my reasons for going on the Oregon Trail. My first reason is that I’m going to do adventurous things. Another reason is that I would start a new life. My last reason is that I’m going to get rich.

My first reason to go on the Oregon Trail is I like adventure. Pioneers got to try new things like fighting the guards, and hunting for food. An excerpt from a fate is meeting the notorious Hot Heads which were dangerous. Another excerpt from a fate is that we had to trade with the Indians. I loved doing the Klondike Derby because it gave me a chance to be in the wilderness. I completed the Klondike Derby in the inclement, freezing cold for 6 hours. It was a team project. We had to pull a sled all the way until we finished. The Klondike Derby is the same as the Oregon Trail because the Oregon Trail was bumpy, dry, and cold. The Klondike Derby is like the Oregon Trail because the sled is like the Prairie Schooner and the Cub Scouts are like the oxen pulling the wagon. You also get to face difficulties and conquer them. On the Klondike Derby Trail, after awhile my heart said, “I am down in the dumps.” I think that’s how the pioneers felt when they were monotonously plodding on the Oregon Trail. When the Klondike Derby was done, my heart told me I was relieved it was over. I felt proud that I did it. That might have been how the pioneers felt when they reached Oregon.

My second reason I would go on the Oregon Trail is that I could start a new life. You get to help build a town. Also you get to name the streets. I thought “What should I name the streets? Maybe Oxen Road.” I like to name streets because I like to be in charge. If there was a street that had no name I would name it Converse Ave. which is my favorite type of Shoe Company. You get to build the type of home you want. If you are a farmer try to find a favorable space for a big farm. You can live in a cleaner environment.

My last reason why I would go to Oregon is to get rich. I would get rich by selling metal parts like hand implements that are not trivial. The more people there are trying to buy my tools, the more money I get. It is going to be a forest in Oregon and people are going to need ax heads to chop down trees and then make the homes. I would need to make farm implements like plows and horse shoes. In my life now, I get rich by putting the bottles into the machine that recycles bottles. I get money and put it in my piggy bank. Then I save it up for a Wii game. I want to be rich so that I can get the things I want to have.

I would choose to go west because I like adventure. I also would start a new life and get rich. If you do something hard and you share the news about what you did, then you will feel pride in your heart. So do something hard like going on the Oregon Trail. Would you choose to go west or not?
