My Info on Batteries Volts are named after Alessandro Volta, because he built the first battery. It was made of zinc and copper. Davy's batteries were not practical for everyday use because they were HUGE. They were 10 meters by 10 meters. That's 90 square feet!! And when they had exposure to water they EXPLODE. Some scientists and archeologists think Volta was not the first person to build a battery because they found some clay batteries made of clay and copper in Baghdad. ~ !Braden!™
