Reasons for the Seasons You may wonder if the whole world has the same seasons at the same times. I will give you the answer.

When the sun is directly facing the equator, then it is either spring in the northern hemisphere and fall in the southern hemisphere, or spring in the southern hemisphere and fall in the northern hemisphere. This is called the equinox.

When the North Pole is facing the sun, it is summer in the northern hemisphere and winter in the southern hemisphere.

When the South Pole is facing the sun, then it is summer in the southern hemisphere and winter in the northern hemisphere.
