Fell running
In England on Sunday my sister Sarah went to the Beatrix Potter museum while I went Fell Running with my cousins. Fell running is nothing like the cross country we do in New Zealand. It's up steep mountains and also very tiring.
Before we went there, we quickly went to the Spar which is like a 4 square to get a drink and a chocolate bar for after the race. I chose two things that we don't have in New Zealand because I thought it might be nice to have something different for a change. The drink was Lucozade and the chocolate bar was double trouble.
By the time we got there it was almost time to start racing, so we quickly signed up, put our numbers on our shirts so that they could make sure nobody got lost, put our special shoes on that had a ton of grip and went to the starting line. It was a flat surface at the start but then it got steeper and steeper with lots of people falling on top of rocks. But they got back up and carried on. It was just about the end of the race and I was coming second to last, but still a pretty good effort for someone not used to running up mountains. That was the position I stayed in for the rest of the race. I was quite happy with my effort. All of the races had finished and it was time for prizegiving. The people who had done 5 races got a medal and a trophy shaped as a shoe. I knew I wasn't going to get one, but I hung around for my two cousins to get theirs. We then went outside to play soccer with some boys, I scored three goals and set up two. My cousin then came rushing out saying Brett come in come in quickly. I had no idea what was happening and then my auntie gave me a medal for being the only kiwi in the race. She kept the trophy for me because she didn't want it to get damaged.
We then had a cream egg lolly scramble and after that it was time to go home. It was a great day in the Lake District spending time with my cousins.
