Ginger Zee
We had an exciting visitor to our school yesterday. A meteorologist from NBC5 in Chicago spoke to our 4th grade classes. Her name was Ginger Zee. She shared with us how she became interested in meteorology, which was through here own experience of seeing a waterspout on Lake Michigan (how exciting and yet scary!). Ginger did an excellent job explaining the science behind meteorology. She talked about climatology, surface observations, technology, atmosphere, and other phenomena related to weather. It was clear that Ginger really likes what she does!! The students found the presentation very interesting and I know it will motivate them to complete their research on extreme weather.
Our class wrote about the event, too. Read what they wrote under assignments.

Wow! I've just read the blogs your class has posted and I've done my research on water spouts. They look fascinating but scarey too.

Thanks for the comment on the handkerchieves my class made. I'm also delighted that you have made a link to us in your side bar.
However, I'm even more excited to hear you are doing a project on extreme weather, please let us know when you class have done their projects as we're studying weather around the world after the Easter break.
It would be great if you could give us a description of the weather where you live, I'm hoping that we can make videos of weather reports, perhaps linked to habitats, next term.
Good luck with your projects everybody!
