Romans in scotland
"Hey Nero, when are you going to be done setting up the barracks?" Regulus yelled. The Romans and the Celts have things in common but also have a lot in common things. For example, The roman soldier has a square shield were as the Celts had a oval shaped Shield. What we have in common is we both wore leather shoes which helped us run across rough footing.
Our camps have about 10 buildings. There are workshops for skilled workers like blacksmiths or craftsman. Then there are the head quarters which is were the officers worked and met and this building had the most important water clock. The commanders quarters is were the families and the servants lived. If you were in the upper class where i live, you have a stable or garden attached to the center of the fort. The bathhouse was for the entire roman camp. In this bathhouse it had public toilets and cold tubs for everyone and yes, the upper and lower class shared the entire facility.Where as the Celts village had a house and workshop. The houses are round and have pointy roofs. The houses also have two floors and was divided into smaller rooms. The workshops is were the blacksmiths make the weapons with metal for the army.
The Roman soldier wheres different clothing than the Celtic soldier. The roman soldier has a square shield made of wood. The shield is about 4 feet long and 3 feet wide. The shield protects our legs so we don't have to use shin-guards or greaves. We also wear a breastplate that protects our back and chest. Our helmets are bronze and iron underneath. They are lined with fur to make it easier for us the out on. Our swords are short. Two feet to be exact. The blade is a about two inches wide. The Celts didn't have body armour like us Romans, they wear bright colors. Their shield is round and long which protects their whole body. Instead of having a knife, they have a sphere which is easier because they don't have to get so close to the other person when fighting. Lastly, their helmet is made out of metal and leather. The leather makes it softer to wear.
Even though i have named you all these differences between us the Romans and the Celtics, They have things in-common too. Like wearing shoes to protect our feet while running on rocky surfaces and also wearing helmets and having workshops for the blacksmith to work in. But our differences make us all unique. "I finished setting up the barracks Regulus." "Okay, great Nero I will be over in a minute" Well, it looks like i better get ready for battle. Now again don't forget that even though we have many differences, we both have some things in-common.
