As we celebrate our success in second grade, we have much to look forward to. The voracious second grade students are wanting to read all the time. THEY LOVE TO READ. Our latest strategy that we have been practicing is visualizing to help with comprehension. We had a blast doing a visualizing activity with a lollipop. I explained to the students that the only part of their body that moves when you visualize is your brain. Then...picture the second graders getting a lollipop, choosing a color(s) and flavor, opening up the wrapper, and then eating it without moving??? I really should have taped it. It was priceless. As I'm sure you can imagine, some just couldn't refrain from acting it out. I love these kids. They are so precious. :):):)
Just a reminder that the Six Flags Reading Incentive is in full swing. The six hours of reading is due to me by February 19. Please make sure to keep track of your "extra" reading minutes. This should not include your fifteen minutes of reading every night. Report cards will be sent home on Friday, January 29. It is also the same day we go to The Theater for Young Audiences. If you didn't return your permission slip, please do so soon.
Here are some fun activities to look forward to...Snazzy Snacks, World Math Day, Internet Projects: Everyone Counts, Green Eggs and Ham, and St. Patrick's Day fun. All the internet projects are tied into required curricular learning. It's just a fun way to do it.
Visualization is under comprehension we pictrue what Mrs.Goneau said in our heads. The lollipop activity we used visualization with that activity. We fout of lollipops in our heads and than we maked the lollipops on paper. We had so much fun doing the lollipop activity.

Visualize is all about painting a picture in our head. The only thing moving is our brain. We made our lolipops all diffrent colers.
