Pearl Harbor

Pearl Harbor   December 7,1941  The Day the Japanese Striked

On the peaceful Sunday morning of December 7, 1941, a storm was brewing. Planes were detected on the radar. We thought they were friendly bombers returning to their ship. They were not. They were Japanese bombers and fighters. In the initial attack, we were not ready. Many ships were badly damaged or destroyed. The Japanese thought they had caught us off our guard. Boy were they wrong! We were so mad at them,  we declared war on them! In all, 2,000 American sailors died, and only 22 Japanese planes were shot down. More than half of them sot down by a cook who found a machine gun lying around. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for his Bravery and devotion to protecing his country. It would be the begining of a war  that had gone on for 2 years already, and would last 4 more. It was the begining of World War 2 for us.

AW, I think fighting for your country is improtant. Especially what the cook did, which was very brave. Keep writing articles!
